Q: Cavvy King Charles died this morning

Question: Our dog died today
Our Cavvy King Charles died this morning (hit by a car), we have another one and I would like to know what to look out for (ie, grieving, will they start acting differently etc). What can we do to help her through this time, (they were pretty much inseperable) and she was found sitting beside his body on the side of the road. Would you suggest down the track getting another pup for her. Thanks for any advice, much appreciated.

Answer: Our dog died today
I am so sorry to hear about your pooch. Are you ok? It's very difficult to tell at this early stage. I have family friends who had two CKC who were sisters. Last year one had to be put down, we we're all worried how the other would cope - but she was just fine. The first sign of stress would be a lack of appetite, if this happens you could try hand feeding. Also, some dogs who are distressed have sloppy poo's, so that might be something to keep an eye out for. The above maybe some early indications. Just try not to over- compensate for her lose to soon, as this may actually help to create the problem. Just try to relax, and keep her in her normal habits and routines and she may pull through happily. I don't see why you should have any issues introducing a new pup in 6 months or so. On behalf of myself and Paul from Ozdoggy, our thoughts are with you on this difficult day.
