About our business
The joy of seeing a partnership develop is what made Hans decide to develop the 'Assistance Dog Training' side of his work.
About this service
Many great organisations offer this service, but many have long delays accessing their services. Having a dog that is also a companion has huge benefits particularly to those with disabilities or whom are disadvantaged.
Hans got a great deal of joy from teaching dogs to walk next to their master in a wheel chair, helping autistic people and children with their dogs, training people with disabilities, and working with the Challenge Foundation, so much so that he has taken time to learn more about this specialist training.
Assisted training materials
The training will be assisted by training materials from one of the most reputable specialist organisations based in the USA. Hans' project will start on a small scale but he would love it to grow and develop into a similar Australian voluntary based organisation where people have the opportunity to help themselves, and have the support of a peer group.
Part training will be done at the home, and once the partnership between handler and dog has been developed, some of the training may take place in a group environment. In this way, both dogs and handlers will learn to adjust to circumstances just as in real life.
As this is a new initiative, Hans is eager to speak with any interested parties so that a premium training and service is developed. Training will be offered solely on a cost recovery basis. The minimum requirement and commitment would be to purchase two training books and practical DVD's and a commitment to attend the 12-week program, which is fun and enjoyable for all.
