boisterous dog with visitors
Have a six month old australian bulldog who is very sociable with both people and other dogs, but is tending to be VERY excited and boisterous when we have visitors. How do we teach her to be calm and not run and jump on everyone? Because she is getting bigger nad is very muscly, we are finding that some people are rightfully quite frightened of her, even though she is not being aggressive - just happy!
ANSWER: boisterous dog with visitors
You need to teach the dog not to jump - not on you or on others, and we recommend the lamppost position ? look up, no eye contact or talking to her and cross your arms and wait till dog sits. Only when she is quiet, move slowly to pay her attention / pat and if she gets excited again, up we stand...this will take time but it works very effectively.
