Puppy eating her own poo

I have a 7 monthold labrador who insists on eating her own poo, I have tried pineapple and meat tenderiser. if i am in the back yard with her she runs to me and does not do it .if i am not there she will eat it. i hate this habbit. please advise me of any suggestions. regards Maryanne

It is a natural thing for a pup and most grow out of them. It comes from mum doing the same to keep the den clean and the dog has an unbelievable nose that determines that there are still nutritional elements in the poo ? and the pup never knows when it gets is next meal.... The best thing is to feed it high quality dry food with a high absorption rate and make sure that the stool is cleaned up ASAP after the deed. The latter is as important as what you feed her. I would also maybe look at is the pup is ready to go onto adult food (lower in protein). If persists see your vet as a first stop.
