My dog will not return when he comes in contact w/other dogs

I live next door to a leash free park but cannot walk my staffy cross without a leash because as soon as he has contact with other dogs he will run laps, chase them and knock them over. This irritates other dog owners at the park especially when it takes me a prolonged amount of time to catch him and put him back on the leash. I want to be able to walk him off the leash so he can roam but i do not want him to bother other dogs in the park!

We need to polish some social skills here ? for as long as it is play related / boisterous behaviour. Put him on a long leash on the park and start recall when he is a few meters ahead; as you have success with the recall let him go out further, till your recall is that strong that you can allow him off leash but you know that you can call him back. Takes time and patience to make this work, but is an investment in the dog's life.
