Training a 3yo CKCS

Training a 3yo CKCS

We bought one from trading post. Have trouble with basic training like "hand" or "stay". Understand "sit" and "come" tho. Is it hard to train at such an age now?

ANSWER: Training a 3yo CKCS
There is no age limitation on training, and a 3 y/o dog should be keen to learn more. What may be required, is settling the dog in his new home, have transparent and consistent rules of how the dog is treated. Find something the dog really likes as the reward (treat / toy) and start training in short bursts. Build up the dog's confidence and interest. Start exercises in a logical sequence that brings success for both dog & handler. Training should only be advanced if success has been achieved. Dogs learn in their own time, so be patient. Lots of training fun!
