Jack Russell - Escape Artist

I have a jack russell who is about 18 months old and he escapes as soon as our backs are turned. I have 2 small kids and another dog, it has gotten that bad I am thinking the only thing to do is sell. He doesn't have any road sense, he will sit in the middle of the road and wait for a car to stop and take him home. The road is a busy one and I am frightened something will happen. PLEASE HELP ME

This is a leadership issue - the dog things he is your leader and needs to escape to go hunting and care for you. This needs addressing as this will gets worse before getting better - in the mean time suggest form of restraining him in backyard etc. Don't carry the dog, don't pay attention to him when he wants, make him do things before you give attention etc - and get some help if needed.
