Choosing a husky pup for your child? - This is not a breed for first time dog owners

Our son wants a husky. We thought that Sydney's climate was not suited to them and perhaps they may be too aggressive and hyperactive. Can you advise what a husky needs to be happy and how we need to prepare the home. Thanks

This is not a breed for first time dog owners, and/or young people. This is a breed that prefers a single leader, rather than being a family pet. They can be very individualistic and stubborn, and are genetically close to the grey wolf. With their coat they have some isolation from both cold and heat. They need a proper fully enclosed fence. Need to get from a very reputable breeder where they take temperament very seriously. Dog needs training and socialisation from an early age and this training and socialisation needs to be ongoing ? really important. Check some breed websites; contact your state canine organisation. Plenty info out there; consider very carefully ? even if they are great dogs!
