I have two males and one female shitsu maltese and cannot control their urinating on all metal poles and objects lying in the back yard, I love them dearly but are ruining my backyard,and also would it be useful to plant some grass in a spot as I only have paving. thankyou Karl

There is a lot of territorial marking going on in your garden - and this is between the 2 males and may even include the female. Toileting on the leash and take them to the one spot would be the best solution - as they will learn to go into one spot - which may be soil / sand / grass area. Wash everything else (pavers, pots, poles and posts) with white vinegar solution (30-40%) so it is relatively strong and let it air dry - as this will remove the current smells that are around and create the vicious cycle you are in.
