Maltese Cross - Escape Artist Extraordinaire
We have an 8 1/2yo maltese type cross. Hates being left at home alone. Will destroy anything to try and get out. Becoming more of an issue now our 2nd baby is on the way. Dog has to stay home more often. Have bought cage which finally keeps him in (with various modifications) but he gets so stressed that his face and paws are all wet when we return. Have seen RSPCA, not a candidate for re- housing. Euthenasia only option if not sorted.

The poor little thing is freaked out. Well you have said it yourself that the matter has only got worse since your first little one arrived. My dog, Jimbo - was very similar. He had horrid separation anxiety when we adopted him. He was a real mess. Good news is though, it can be fixed. Its just a matter of doing some leg work and finding help that actually works. Your fluffy one has some real emotional problems. So they are deep seeded, not just a obedience issue. As mentioned in a few replies below, speak with your vet in order to find a qualified animal behaviourist. A local training franchises wont really do the job. A behaviourist will work with you and your vet so a short course of medication may also be required. Defiantly give it a go. I know its frustrating, upsetting and a general nightmare - but there is good help out there.
