Rescue Dog Behavior Problems? Half Moon Bay, CA
we recently adopted a six year old mixed labrador male from the humane society. after having him for about a month, he has growled/lunged/barked/fanged toward my father. One incidence my father was walking up the stairs in the dark toward the dog who was laying and he tugged at the dogs paw and he growled and lunged. The second incident was when the dog was lying on my parents bed and he was resting and my dad tugged at the sheets to get in bed and the dog growled. After the dog got off he started fanging so I had the dog leave and go into my room with me. He is such a sweet dog and has not acted this way to anyone excpet my dad. We don't now if this is because he is still new, or my dad may have done someting to bother the dog, or is this is a serious behavior problem? Any suggestions...

It seems your dog thinks he is better than your Dad! Ideally, put your dad as a major player in your dogs life. Is your Dad able to walk him, feed him some dinners, give him treats, brush him ect? I think the more actively involved he is in your dogs life, the more he will decide he is a nice guy! Get him involved as much as you can.
