New Dog Groomer - now new weird dog

On Monday I took my MaltesexSilky to a new dog groomer. She was shaved within an inch of her life and it feels just like stubble. Since then my dog has been crying, twitching, turning her head and biting at her tail and other places as if she has fleas, which she doesnt, she appears unable to get comfortable at all and has kept the household up for two nights as if we had a newborn baby. Today she also developed a bad case of diahorrea. What is happening. Has she got a reaction to the shampoo the groomer used or is she incredible itchy or in pain from the close shave. I think the whole experience may have traumatised her and dont know how to elevate her distress. I have put Curash powder on her several times and put her in a cotton doggy coat which seems to help for awhile but she just starts to behave oddly again sometime afterwards. Any help greatly appreciated.

This makes my cranky. Any decent groomer would know a Maltese breed OR Shitzu breed should not be 'buzz cut'. Their fur should only be trimmed with scissors. It ruins the quality of their coat, and creates this exact reaction. I can only suspect that now your poor little girl has incredibly itchy skin and its possibly driving her insane, and the diarrhea comes from the stress of it all. I would ring them and asked what was used on her for her bath, just to check it wasn't anything to potent. There is also a possibility that the shampoo and conditioner was not fully washed out. Invest in a soothing and gentle oatmeal shampoo and conditioner like Aloveen and give your poor little one a bath every day for a few days and reduce frequency as the fur grows and itching stops. If the situation worsens, visit your vet asap. I wouldn't go back to this groomer. You should tell them that dogs have fur / coats for a reason!!!
