Staffy bites lead, pulls, stresses when walking

Staffy bites lead, pulls, stresses when walking

I have a 5 year old Staffy who is very well behaved until she knows that I want to take her for a walk. She goes absolutely crazy and bites the lead and the harness and really stresses herself out (me too!). We have tried everything to calm her even getting tablets from the vet but nothing has changed. It has become too stressful to take her for anymore walks. Please help!!

Answer: Staffy bites lead, pulls, stresses when going for wa
Firstly, we need you to stop stressing. Mostly, this is what she will be responding to. I would also look at getting rid of the harness if she has issues with it. Let's start a fresh, new collar, new lead, no harness, and a relaxed mum and dad! Prior to going for a walk display no emotion. Approach her completely neutrally. Simply connect the lead to the collar and off you go. Don't react to her carrying on. Once you are out of the door immediately show her how pleased you are and offer her a few treats. Speak to her in a happy voice, and continue to have a conversation with her. Play with her while you walk, skip, jump, run, do anything that will perk up her mood. Once you return home become completely neutral again.
