had a 6yr old x kelpie for 2yrs (minding him) and in october starting doing houdini tried making the fence harder to climb so he just jumps it instead had another dog then but passed away in feb after he started jumping fence.driving me crazy with fines etc.keeping him on a 5mtr chain but dont like doing it

The first thing I would try doing is making your back yard more interesting. Could you try getting a kiddie sand pit, filling it with dirt or sand and hiding lots of treats, bones, toys or anything you could think of? You may need to speed some time encouraging digging and playing in this area although this process may prove to be a good idea. As you probably know Kelpi's are such active dogs so I suggest you up the exercise levels 10 fold. Could you look at finding a dog walker? Or even advertising for a school kid to come and spend some time with him and throw a ball or similar for some pocket money? Good luck.
