Q: Looking to buy a KCC puppy in the near future

Hello, I am looking to buy a KCC puppy in the near future, I just wanted to know some facts. I have seen these dogs in a range of different sizes from really small and skinny to medium build. Is this a normal thing for this breed? What is the right size for this type of dog? I am after a King Charles that is very small in size as I have seen them in this size and loved it, how will I know how big the pup will grow? Thanks VERY much for your time, From Kristy

Answer: King Charles Cavalier dogs
Kristy; the 'Cavalier King Charles Spaniel' (approx 33cm in height) is a direct descendant of the 'King Charles Spaniel' (approx 25 cm in height). The King Charles Spaniel (also known as 'English Toy Spaniel') is the smaller / toy version that you may have seen. Both breeds look almost exactly the same except for their size, and the King Charles Spaniel has more of a squashed in face compared to the Cavalier's. I will assume it is the King Charles Spaniel (English Toy Spaniel) that you have fallen in love with. I have met two King Charles Spaniel pups before and they were utterly adorable! Like with most breeds, the size may vary from breeder to breeder - generally most will try to conform to the breed standards.
