Australian cattle dog can't stand the heat

Bec-my Australian cattle dog is 33 weeks old. Is it possible that she is beginning to experience her initial estrus at this age? She is exhibiting swelling of the vulva area but no discharge (as yet). And she's licking herself so much it's becoming annoying. What do you think?

Answer: Can't stand the heat
Generally in the initial stages they will lick up any discharge from their nether regions, so it may be possible that you wont see any droppings on the ground as it is natural for them to lick and lick and lick. 'Proestrus' is the first stage of the heat cycle. By the time she reaches 'Estrus'(second stage) you may notice blood. Estrus is the time when she will accept mates. So it would be safe to assume that she is in her Proesturs or Estrus stage, or some where in-between.
